Last part of my story of becoming an explorer. I hope that you will be very interested in how we reached the estimate of 0.5 million in 4 months, and then parted ways with a partner, because we did not agree on interests.

After we got the revenue, the first satisfied customers who want to use our product, we seriously thought about how relevant the field and market we have chosen.

They literally wrote to us:

«Where were you before?! I was looking for something like that!»

And we were sure that everything, nothing could stop us. We found a product / market fit and were ready to create a strong product that would have a qualitative impact on the development of the user research market, making it even more useful and effective.

We started making money and immediately reinvesting it in development to get out of the No-Code platform, which limits our capabilities.

The global goal of our platform was to make quality research an ongoing process, not a series of events for which you need to allocate a separate budget, team and a lot of time. Research as an ongoing process was the mission of our project.

As we developed and moved, my partner and I did not have the same views on the same things in places: he wanted to create something that already works and adapt it to the local market, but I wanted to fundamentally change the way people think about the research process. and change that market with your product. It is clear that the risks in the case of my idea were much higher than in his. Because he wanted to create something that already works and there is a demand in the market, and I wanted something that did not exist yet.

We tried to attract investment in the project and applied for participation in the acceleration. In the early stages, no one took us seriously, but after a while, when we showed a constant growth in MRR, they began to talk to us in a different way.

We received an estimate of $0.5 million. We were offered $50 000 for 10% of the company. But we thought that this is too low an estimate for such a market and our pace of development. We refused and thought that we could still develop with our own money, and when fast growth was needed, we would definitely be able to find an investor.

The next stage was the development of the UX / UI design our product. We found a very strong UX / UI designer who, under my supervision, took on the task of designing the interface.

This was probably the most responsible moment, since I am very scrupulous and meticulous about everything related to design and product logic. For me, everything matters: from sufficient transparency of the elements, to the fundamental arrangement of elements in the interface. Every little thing and every detail counts. This is the only way to create a truly worthwhile product.

For my partner, this approach was not close. He didn’t understand what UX was and he couldn’t imagine how immensely meaningful it was.

After I made corrections and constant control, the cost of the design increased by almost 1.5 times more than planned. This was the final break point and tension between me and my partner.

After very lengthy disputes and negotiations, we decided to suspend work on the project. And the current business is to be divided. I got all the content: brand, layouts, presentations, clients. The partner took part of the business that brought us about $ 2000 a month — transcripts.

After all this, I realized that, apparently, I do not have much experience and the current task is to get the maximum in the minimum amount of time. And he decided to get a job in a large company. After 2 weeks of searching — I found the perfect one.

And you know, I have been employed for a month now, and I am glad while everything in my life is developing. I was very afraid that hiring might drown my entrepreneurial spirit, but no. At this point, I clearly know that hiring is one of the rungs of the big ladder. The path is just beginning.
